Dining at Cotter House
Cotter House is always adding new recipes to our already great menus in order to transition to the MIND Diet. The MIND Diet consists of 15 components, 10 healthy foods to consume daily or weekly, and 5 foods that should be limited. The foods highlight the nutrients and servings that have been demonstrated in study after study to protect the brain against oxidative stress and inflammation. These foods also help facilitate healthy brain function.
Healthy foods to consume
- Green leafy vegetables
- Most other vegetables
- Nuts
- Berries, especially strawberries and blueberries
- Beans and legumes
- Whole grains
- Fish, especially salmon, albacore tuna, and sardines
- Poultry
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Wine, but limited to one glass daily
Foods to limit
- Red meat
- Butter and stick margarine
- Cheese (whole fat)
- Pastries and other sweets
- Fried foods and fast foods
